Redesign dropdown menu for atmosphere/genre tags

The current dropdown menu for atmosphere/genre tags is difficult to navigate. It would be beneficial to redesign it or add a search function to make finding the correct tags quicker and more efficient.

Hello Brian! You can search for genres:

    • In the genre field, start typing a letter or a few letters, and the list narrows instantly.

    • With 800+ genres, try 2 or 3 letters for better results, for example, “syn” to surface Synthwave, Synth Pop, and more.

    • If something doesn’t appear, keep typing to refine.

    Improved Melody Menu Organization

The current melody selection menu is disorganized, with too many options and duplicates, making it difficult to find specific melodies. I suggest implementing better organization, such as alphabetical order, filters by mood or instrumentation, and a favorites section to enhance usability and streamline the creative process.

I’m surprised this isn’t higher up on the requested features list. Things one area that would have a significant impact. The current way to select genres is messy and not user friendly. A simpler approach would be to have more than one drop-down filter. This would prevent people entering their own styles / genres, and would help the AI understand what is required, thus avoiding “genre drift”.

A simplified top filter would be the main genre types. For example: Pop, R&B, Disco, Country, Rap, Heavy Metal etc.

Once this first option is selected, noting that only ONE option must be picked, the next dropdown menu can only show those genres that relate to what was picked in the first menu.

Example: Pop (menu 1). For the second dropdown you can select 3 options (eg: Dance Pop c Synth Pop, Pop Ballad, Power Pop). These options are pre-defined by Songer.

The next dropdown should be decade specific. And only ONE option can be selected. Eg: 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s. This would help lock in the sound that the individual is after.

The next dropdown should lock in BPM, for example: 60-90 slow ballad, 90-110 mid tempo, 110-130 upbeat, 130-150 energetic.

And the last dropdown should do the vocal lock. For example: Male, Female, Boy Group, Girl Group, Duet, Mixed Group, Personal Vocal (if you’ve provided one).

Whilst it seems a big ask, a change like this would have an instant impact on how the AI navigates people choices. It will also cut down on the mixed messaging from genres and will tell the AI specific things that it needs to adhere to.

NB! I used ChatGPT to generate the drop-down folder suggestions using a specific prompt I gave it. I asked for a list of the most common music styles, limited to 10. I then asked for that list to have sub-genres limited to 5.
