MIDI Export for Unlocked Songs

Currently, Songer does not support exporting unlocked songs in MIDI format, which is essential for deeper editing, DAW use, and music production workflows. Many creators, including myself, would greatly benefit from the ability to export MIDI files directly from Songer. This feature would streamline our workflow and enhance the platform's utility for music production.

    Hi John,

Thanks for joining in on my conversation with Cate🤝.

Thanks for the sample stem separation file zip too. I will download and check it in my DAW.

Will be on the lookout when you bring MIDI into the equation.

BUT JUST A SUGGESTION FROM ME:

If you could find a way for the Songer platform to start its song generation with stems and leave them in their own compartments/lanes, then proceed to the next stage by exporting it as a flattened WAV or MP3.

If you could grab the individual tracks during the initiation process, I am certain you would get 100% clean audio stems with no ghost notes and annoying digital artifacts.

Yes, I know it is going to take more space and processing power on your end. However, since currently your user base is far smaller than Suno or Udio, you won't be bombarded or experience a system overload.

If you ace this, it is going to be a game changer for Songer's financials for sure. I think by now the novelty and hype of song generation has died down like every other new trend.

Now, the majority of serious musicians, producers, and artists are using AI music generation in general. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Now, if you could get on board with a paid Moises subscription, check their track generation feature out. They have a studio/DAW-like feature.

You import all your stems in and then import your separated stems from Songer, Suno, or Udio tracks that have loads of digital fragments.

Then, for example, you isolate your piano, select your instrument, and generate a new clean version of your original stem.

But sadly, even though the stem is super clean, the accuracy is not in line with the original stem.

Some parts are okay, but the majority of the Moises track is not up to the mark in feel and overall doesn't relate to my track.

    However, the concept is super.

John, I hope you'll crack the code for 100% clean stems. At present, the stems most affected are the drums, bass, vocals, and backing vocals.

To start, if you can have the vocals isolated after the track is complete, that would solve 60% of the problem.

As you know, 100% of the time when the vocal is muted after the stems are separated, the backing track by itself has terrible dropouts.

I hope I have made sense in my suggestion 🤭.

If you are looking for a lab rat or two, I am ready and willing to test anything for you and give you a comprehensive response as a paid subscriber and a loyal supporter of Songer.

    Best regards,

I wanted to add one further angle that may be worth considering from a legal, creator-control, and platform-protection point of view.

With the wider legal discussions currently happening around AI music platforms, including the well-known issues involving Suno, Udio, major record labels, copyright concerns, training data, and questions around AI-generated output, I believe MIDI export could become much more than just a production feature.

It could potentially become a way for Songer to give users more creative control and more responsibility over the final musical work.

At the moment, audio stems allow users to edit, mix, master, and reshape the sound. That is useful, but the musical structure is still largely locked into the generated audio. MIDI would be different. MIDI would allow the artist to take the musical idea into their own DAW and fully rebuild, rewrite, replay, rearrange, re-sound, and develop the parts themselves.

From a creator’s point of view, that changes the workflow from simply using an AI-generated recording to using Songer as an idea-generation and composition-starting tool.

For example, if Songer provided MIDI alongside stems, a producer could:

rewrite or adjust melodies and chord progressions

    rebuild basslines and kick/bass relationships

replace generated sounds with their own instruments and synths

change note timing, velocity, groove, and structure

extend or rearrange the track manually

create a final production that has much clearer human authorship and creative input

That seems important in the current environment because one of the big concerns around AI music is whether the final track is simply an AI-generated output, or whether the human artist has meaningfully transformed it into their own work.

MIDI export could help Songer position itself more safely and professionally as a creative production assistant rather than only a finished-song generator.

In my own case, I use Songer as the starting point, then take the material into Cubase to develop it further. If MIDI was available, I would not just be polishing audio. I would be actively rebuilding the musical DNA of the track, making stronger creative decisions, and turning the original idea into something far more personally authored.

This may also help Songer stand apart from platforms facing heavier scrutiny. Giving artists deeper access to the underlying musical information could support a clearer workflow where Songer provides the creative spark, but the artist has the tools to take full control of the finished composition and production.

Of course, I understand that MIDI export would not magically remove every legal question around AI music. But it could be a very strong step toward transparency, creator control, human authorship, and responsible professional use.

It may also be valuable as a higher-tier feature for serious users, producers, DJs, composers, educators, and studios who want to work inside DAWs and take real ownership of the final result.

Thank you again for listening and for taking these suggestions seriously. I genuinely believe this could be one of the most important features Songer could add for advanced users and for the long-term credibility of the platform.

    Kind regards,

    Aaron

    MIDI generation and DL

    Songer team,

I wanted to put forward a feature suggestion from the perspective of someone who uses Songer heavily and in a very detailed way.

Would you consider adding the ability for Songer to generate and export MIDI files alongside the audio and stems?

For users like myself who take the generated tracks into a DAW such as Cubase, MIDI export would be a huge step forward. It would allow us to properly refine basslines, kick patterns, melodies, chords, leads, arps, and arrangement ideas after generation, rather than only working from audio stems.

This would not replace the current audio or stem download system. It would simply give more advanced users deeper creative control after Songer has created the initial song idea.

From a serious production point of view, MIDI files would make Songer far more powerful because users could:

Edit and improve melodies, chord progressions, basslines, and lead parts directly in their DAW.

Rebuild parts using their own instruments, synths, samples, and production chains.

Tighten rhythm sections such as kick, bass, percussion, and groove.

Develop Songer tracks into more professional, release-ready productions.

Use Songer as a stronger songwriting and arrangement tool, not just an audio generation tool.

For example, in my own workflow I use Songer to create full electronic music tracks, then I bring the results into Cubase to EQ, reshape, master, and improve the production. Having MIDI downloads would let me go much deeper, especially with kick/bass relationships, melodic hooks, drops, and arrangement control.

This could also open Songer up to more producers, DJs, composers, remixers, and advanced users who want to use the platform as part of a serious production workflow.

Even if MIDI export was only available on higher-tier plans, I believe many committed users would see real value in it.

Songer already does an impressive job at creating full song ideas. Adding downloadable MIDI would take it to another level and make it much more useful for professional and semi-professional music production.

    Thanks for considering the suggestion.
